For the uninitiated, there may appear only one way to experience the Indian Ocean island of Mauritius. But despite what your travel agent may try to peddle, there's more to choosing your resort than just what cocktails are included or how many swimming pools it has.
Mauritius may be relatively small and sport a strong palm tree, coconut and white sand beach identity, but put in a little effort, and you'll find it's anything but homogenous. Each district and coastline has unique appeals, and resorts - even those within the same portfolio - differ significantly in style, atmosphere, and even pricing.
There's also no need to stick to a single property or brand on your Mauritian holiday. Transfers are generally quick and easy, and with over 100 hotels and resorts to choose from on all sides of the island, you'll do well to experience at least two properties on different coastlines.
