ON HER CAREER

I’ve been in the music industry for three decades and my most exciting moments include winning all my awards, performing in front of presidents and travelling the world.  I love that my music helps people emotionally and spiritually. It has developed other musicians and brought up a lot of pastors in our community.

When I write music I go away, somewhere I can think peacefully with no one to disturb me. I enjoy listening to soul music, love songs and Mbhaqanga. While I embrace other music genres, I also don’t listen to anything with vulgar lyrics.

ON SPIRITUALITY

My ritual before going on stage is to pray and ask God to take over when I’m performing. Whatever comes after that is me praising and worshiping Him.

My idea of fun is having crazy moments with my children, playing dress up and joking around.

HER FUTURE PLANS

I’m currently busy with a musical production of my life story. I’m hoping it will encourage young people to express themselves through their talents.

On top of Gospel Time and Clash of the Choirs, I’m also a brand ambassador for Ariel, through which I do empowerment projects with women.

Sometimes I get in the car and drive to Nelspruit to go visit my neighbours and people in the community.

HER SIGNATURE LOOK

The reason behind my signature hair cut is that I grew up knowing that I am not an attractive girl, so I just didn’t plait or braid my hair.

THE PEOPLE SHE’D LIKE TO MEET

The five people I would invite to my house are Oprah Winfrey, Joyce Meyers, Maya Angelou and Tata Nelson Mandela because their life stories inspire me. The fith person would be my late mom. I would love to hug her one more time and tell her everything is okay now.
