How do you feel about being nominated for such a prestigious award for the second year in a row?

I feel humbled, excited and happy. Yesterday I thought, ‘wow, look at God!’ To be nominated twice is amazing. The first time was great but this is sweeter. I’m blessed to have worked with such a great team and I’m humbled to be representing South Africa and the talent that it possesses.

What does being nominated for an Emmy mean for you as an actress?

I’m hoping that this nomination will show the world that South Africa has talent, because we do. I'm going to continue working on my craft; this doesn’t change anything for me and I still have personal career goals that I wish to fulfill. The consecutive nod is amazing but I also will not get lost in the hype because there's more work to be done.

How do you remain grounded?

I’m always hard on myself. I’m always striving for better and improving how I execute all that I do. I hardly get to the point where I believe that I’m bigger or better than the next person. I’m fulfilling purpose.

And your future plans?

I’m about to shoot MTV Shuga so I’ll be working on that as well as finish my commissioned script for a film. I’m also still working on getting funding for my crime action series, which I also wrote.

The 46th International Emmy Awards ceremony will be held on 19 November 2018 at the Hilton Hotel in New York.
