In the latest episode of its much-loved designer collaboration series, H&M is delighted to announce a link-up with emerging brand Rokh. Spanning womenswear, menswear and accessories, the collection will be available in South Africa from 18 April at Sandton City and online from Superbalist.

The Rokh H&M collection features Rokh’s adaptable signatures, from double-layer trench coats to detachable-hem dresses, alongside flattering corset-style pieces and statement jewellery.

“Rokh is at the forefront of a new wave of Korean designers whose conceptual-yet-wearable clothes are captivating fashion right now. We’re proud to present a curated edit of designer Rok Hwang’s adaptable wardrobe classics, and we can’t wait to see how our customers wear them,” says Ann-Sofie Johansson, creative advisor and head of design womenswear at H&M.

“Our designs have a classic appearance with a radical construction for a timeless approach to design. I’m very excited to share our vision with more customers around the world thanks to this milestone collection with H&M,” says Rok Hwang, creative director at Rokh.

Who is Rok Hwang?

Rok Hwang was born in Seoul, South Korea, and has lived in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Korea. Having spent most of his teenage years in Austin, Texas, in 2003 he moved to the UK, enrolling at Central Saint Martins a year later. Hwang subsequently completed a BA in menswear followed by an MA in womenswear, studying under the revered Professor Louise Wilson.

Graduating in the Central Saint Martins class of 2010, Hwang won the L’Ore´al Professionnel Creative Award for his outstanding graduate collection. He then secured a role at Ce´line, working as a ready-to-wear designer under the creative direction of Phoebe Philo.

In 2016, Hwang founded Rokh, a brand characterised by artisanal deconstruction, with a focus on adaptable garments that explore the contrast between traditional masculine and feminine codes. His first collection was released a year later. In 2018, Rokh’s impact on the fashion industry was recognised when Hwang was nominated for the LVMH Prize and was awarded a runner-up Special Prize. The label made its runway debut for Fall 2019 at Paris Fashion Week and has over 130 stockists worldwide.

Rokh designs have been worn by global talents including Blackpink, Kendall Jenner, Hailey Bieber, Lady Gaga, Kerry Washington, Hailee Steinfeld, Sydney Sweeney, and Anya Taylor Joy. Today, Rok Hwang is based between London and Paris, while the brand calls Paris home.

The Rokh H&M collection will be available to shop at Sandton City and Superbalist from 18 April.
