It’s nearly time for the royal wedding! On 19 May Prince Harry will wed Meghan Markle in what we’re sure will be a beautiful ceremony in front of the entire world.
Which is all good and fabulous, but what about the people organising this wedding and the various appointments leading up to it? What must it be like to do that job? (I’m already tired just thinking about all that admin)
Well, thanks to a recent job listing we know exactly what you need to be a communications assistant to the royal family.
According to the now expired job listing on LinkedIn, recently the royal family was looking for a communications assistant who would be based in Buckingham Palace for a year from April 2018 to April 2019 – just in time for the royal wedding.
You’ll have to be quick on your feet
It's all about a fast pace and getting things done quickly since you’ll “assist senior colleagues with both proactive and reactive communications."
You’ll have to be responsible
You will have to organise coverage of the grand Palace engagements that take place including “investitures (giving honours and awards) and garden parties” and if there are events that happen outside of the Palace, you’ll need to be there for that too.
Writing skills on point
There's a requirement to produce content for a variety of different platforms. You’ll need to be able to pen press announcements, media briefing notes, social media updates and even feature articles.

Jetsetter dreams
If you’re a nervous flyer, or get sea sick, then this might not be the job for you. Even though the position is mostly based at Buckingham Palace, you’ll also be required to travel in the UK and overseas if necessary “to support important visits and engagements.”
You need to have a squeaky clean background
You’re not just be representing yourself here, but also the British monarchy so you’ll need to make sure that everything you do is done meticulously and that your closet is without any skeletons, because “reputation and impact will be at the forefront of all that you do.”
Creativity is key
If you want to keep this job, then you best make sure you keep things interesting as the job requirements state, “you'll make sure our communications consistently spark interest and reach a range of audiences.” So, you know, no pressure.

Benefits
The pay for this job isn’t specified, but if it’s anything like being either a secretarial assistant or a social media specialist (well, this job sounds like both, tbh), then you could expect anywhere between £24 000 - £50 000 (R 406 730 - R847 355) a year, according to Business Insider UK. Plus you’ll get 33 days off a year which includes bank holidays, a 15% employer contribution pension scheme and “support for your continued professional development.”
We’re not 100% sure what that last part means, but we’re pretty sure it’s got something to do with helping you grow your career.
