French fashion house Chanel unveiled its Fall/Winter 2020-2021 women's ready-to-wear collection on the final day of Paris Fashion Week.

Virginie Viard, who took over as artistic director after Karl Lagerfeld's death last February, chose an 'understated' equestrian theme for her show at the Grand Palais. The collection is disappointing, to say the least. And if you watch the video below closely, you might see a few bemused faces in the front row.

Staying true to Chanel's signature tweed, yet taking a few odd risks with leather and accessories reminiscent of religious trinkets, Virginie's offering this season looks like an unintentional rejection of Coco Chanel's advice - "before you leave the house, take one thing off."

Or maybe it was a deliberate ironic nod to the French label's founder. We'll give her the benefit of the doubt.
