Amy Schumer has ‘really good’ sex with husband once a week for this reason

Babies – you’ve got to love them, but they can be the kiss of death for your sex life.

Here’s how comedian Amy Schumer and her husband Chris Fischer are keeping the spark alive 14 months after the birth of their son, Gene.

Speaking in a recent podcast interview on What to Expect for streaming platform iHeartRadio, the American stand-up comedian and actress got candid about the realities of getting intimate after childbirth.

She revealed that after following doctors’ advice and not having sex for six weeks after the delivery, she and her hubby got going again and it was “nice”.

And determined not to allow the new status as parents to derail their lovelife, they now make a point of scheduling some time for sex.

 “We make a plan. We go like, ‘Let’s have sex tomorrow or Tuesday. That’ll be a good day’. And then we do it and we go, ‘That’s great. We should do that more.’ But we still just do it once a week,” Amy says.

Although it may not sound romantic having to do this amount of planning, Amy says they’ve got to schedule sex, otherwise it probably won’t happen. And a sexless marriage is something they’re both keen to avoid.

“We just keep it going because you have to otherwise you're just like roommates,” she says.

But although the couple are happy to have their sex life back on track, they aren’t in any rush to give Gene a sibling. In the interview Amy (39) revealed how rough her pregnancy was – she conceived via IVF but there were so many complications that she had to be hospitalized 10 times before the delivery.

“I also have really bad endometriosis and adenomyosis (a condition in which the inner lining of the uterus breaks through the muscle wall),” she said. "I could have a baby again, physically, but it might kill me."

It’s for this reason that she and Chris (40), a chef and farmer, have decided that next time round they’ll probably go the surrogacy route.

“COVID kind of put everything on hold, but of course we do want more. I hope that's in the cards for us,” she said referring to the possibility of expanding their family.
