The coronavirus seemed to be a distant idea until suddenly it no longer was.

Many people have gone from not knowing a single person with Covid-19 to now knowing someone who contracted the virus or died from it – and our favourite celebrities aren’t immune.

In the past few months, there’ve been a few A-listers who’ve tested positive and have candidly shared tips and their experiences on social media.

Rosie Motene

Actress and activist Rosie Motene recently revealed she has Covid-19 after her partner tested positive three days before her.

While they’ve been in isolation and taking care of themselves as best they can, Rosie has also been sharing updates about her and her partner's recovery as well as recommendations she’s received from doctors.

“Emotions . . . process whatever comes your way,” Rosie wrote in a recent post. “We have gone from crying, being bitter and angry to petrified to trying to dance to old R&B [songs]. We have not had a fever, we have been checking our temps before we tested and it’s always been about 34/35 degrees.

“We are feeling better. My cough has decreased and my breathing improved,” she added.

Shahan Ramkissoon

ENCA news anchor Shahan Ramkissoon documented his journey with Covid-19 on social media, assuring his fans that he’s getting better.

“Today I tested positive for #covid19,” Shahan wrote on Instagram after receiving his test results “I’m in good health and in self-isolation. I’ll be off air for two weeks and I will overcome this.”

He even shared a happy TikTok video of himself to prove it.

Brian Temba

The actor and producer took to Instagram recently to encourage his followers not to take the coronavirus lightly.

“Sometimes we take things for granted and we think some of the bad things that happen in the world would not affect us, until it’s on your doorstep,” he wrote “I’m on the mend as we speak,” Brian wrote.

Sthandiwe Kgoroge

Actress Sthandiwe Kgoroge posted a picture of herself during day nine of her recovery from the virus. In the post she shared she wouldn’t wish Covid-19 on her worst enemies and went on to say what’s helped her in her fight against the virus:

“What has been helping me: prayer (pleading the blood of Jesus), pulse oximeter to check my oxygen, thermometer to check my temperature, zinc, vitamin D, vitamin C, mhlonyane and Panado for the unbearable headaches. Steam, steam, steam!”

Bob Mabena

Relating to a Twitter user's Covid-19 experience, TV and radio host Bob Mabena opened up about his gran contracting the virus and dying three days later in a heartbreaking tweet.

“[Grandmother] contracted Covid in a hospital whilst going in [because of] a lung infection,” Bob wrote. “Within three days, she was gone. The hospitals aren’t ready.”
