Bride caught in Beirut blast while recording her wedding video

A bride had to run for her life after the devastating explosion that rocked Beirut this week.

Newly married Dr Israa Seblani (29) was draped in pristine white and smiling for her wedding video when a thunderous blast rang out just 1km away in the Lebanese capital, nearly blowing her off her feet.

The dramatic footage was captured during the video recording when the explosion rocked the capital, killing at least 135 people and leaving more than 5000 people injured, The Guardian reports.

Israa, who works as a doctor in the United States, arrived in the city three weeks ago for her wedding.

It is reported that the explosion was sparked when a welder ignited 2 750 tons of ammonium nitrate that had been stored in the port area of the city for years.

Following the explosion, she helped to check on the injured nearby.

Israa and her husband Ahmad Subeih (34), a businessman in Beirut, are still struggling to comprehend what happened, the New York Post reports.

“I have been preparing for my big day for two weeks and I was so happy like all other girls. I am getting married. My parents are going to be happy seeing me in a white dress, I will be looking like a princess,” she told Reuters.

“What happened during the explosion here – there is no word to explain … I was shocked, I was wondering what happened. Am I going to die?”

Piles of broken glass from windows that had been blown out littered the ground around the hotel she was due to stay in.

Her husband recalled the aftermath of the blast.

“We started to walk around and it was extremely sad. It was not describable the devastation and the sound of the explosion,” Ahmad said.

“We are still in shock ... I have never heard anything similar to the sound of this explosion.”

“I feel so sad about what happened to other people, about what happened to Lebanon,” Israa added.

“When I woke up and saw the damage that happened to Beirut, the one thing I said was “Thank God we are still alive’’.

After the explosion, the couple tried to compose themselves and carry on with their celebrations.

“My husband told me to continue. We can’t stop. I was like okay, why not, we continue. I was not living the moment actually. I was like walking, my face was smiling, my lips were smiling, that’s it, not more. Then we went to have a dinner.”

Ahmad is currently awaiting an American visa so he can join his wife in the US.

A migrant worker has also been shown saving a toddler from the force of the explosion, the Filipino Times reports.

Footage posted on social media shows the woman cleaning her employers’ home when the blast occurred.

Quick as a flash, the cleaner grabbed the little girl playing in the background and ran to safety.

The woman has been hailed a hero with many applauding her presence of mind and quick thinking.
