The annual Sport Illustrated Swimsuit Edition is well under production, and tween boys everywhere are counting the days…
Amazingly, the magazine has joined the conversation (and the 21st Century) by featuring Ashley Graham who is a size 14, making this the first plus-size advertisement to grace the pages of the Swimsuit Edition.
The photo is a follow up for the Swimsuits for All campaign, reminding readers and those that buy the mag for "the articles" that all bodies can technically fit into a swimsuit.
The campaign features a sassy hashtag, #CurvesinBikinis, which encourages women to feel as gorgeous as they are
According to Buzzfeed, Robyn Lawley is actually the first "plus-size" model to be featured in the editorial pages of the annual swimsuit issue. At size 12, Robyn is considered the first "plus-size" supermodel to be featured as front girl for high fashion brands such as Ralph Lauren and H&M.

Sports Illustrated has realised that there are other body types out there and that curvaceous women are also attractive and desirable.
This is a momentous achievement for a magazine that has, over the last 4 decades, basically told women that they are not welcome on the beach, unless they are a size 6 or less.
Granted it’s just one model and an ad, but it’s a step forward nonetheless. A step in the right direction, don't you think?
