The announcement comes five months after the couple tied the knot at a spectacular royal ceremony held in Windsor Castle, England.
The statement reads: “Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public.”
The baby will be seventh in line to the British throne.
The Guardian reports that Duchess’s mother, Doria Ragland “very happy about this lovely news” and she “looks forward to welcoming her first grandchild.”

The British prime minister, Theresa May has congratulated the royal pair. “My warmest congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the happy news they are expecting a baby in the spring. Wishing them all the best.”
The Guardian further reports that the parents-to-be have been looking forward to starting a family. In the couple’s engagement interview with BBC News, Prince Harry had said: “You know, I think one step at a time, and hopefully we’ll start a family in the near future.”
