- The finalists in the Collection Fifteen competition for the best unstaged wedding pictures have been revealed.
- Candid pictures captured a British bride as she smoked a cheeky cigarette, a Canadian couple tucking into a McDonalds and a young boy laying flat out on the dance floor after a tiring day of partying.
- The competition seeks to share the beauty of authentic, relatable and unstaged wedding photos.
The competition which is open to everyone in the world was founded in 2017 by photographer, Alan Law (39) from Cornwall, UK.
“It was created to celebrate the skill and artistry of documentary wedding photography; capturing moments without posing, without setting anything up – just pure, natural captures,” says Alan, founder of the association and competition.
"There are thousands of entries per contest; the latest contest – Collection Fifteen – had over 13 000 images submitted. It is incredibly difficult to win – so each collection really does represent the best documentary wedding photography in the world.”

“As ever, the standard was incredibly high, and thus it was an incredibly difficult task for our five judges for this round,” the competition organisers add.
“The brilliant Geeshan Bandara, Laura Ranftler, Erum Rizvi, Simon Leclercq and Gareth Lima Conlon – chose our winners, with just 135 Reportage Awards and 50 Story Awards given. No poses; nothing staged: This is Reportage.”

Redruth photographer Paul Fox captures these three cheeky guests playing during the ceremony.
Here, Belgian photographer Fille Roelants includes the kiss in the foreground whilst focusing on the huge celebrations in the background, an important aspect that may be missed if you only focused on the couple.

The best photographers don't just shoot at eye-level all the time; after all, that's exactly how everyone sees the world day-to-day. Here, Islington's Ash Davenport goes really low to capture the bride arriving, and is rewarded with a totally different capture.
By stepping back and shooting wide, Slovenian wedding photographer Aleks Kus has managed to capture a story within a single frame: The arrival of the bride, the waiting groom, all their family and friends, and, of course, the amazing vista. It is one of Collection Fifteen's candid wedding competition winners.
