Shrieks and tantrums can be a thing of the past if you make hair-care time special for your little ones. This starts with buying hair-care products that are suitable for your child's age and hair. Invest in those that are specifically made for soft scalps and young hair, which changes continually as the child grows.

Most African mothers sweat it when it comes to caring for their children's hair. Babies' hair texture starts to change from the fourth month: it feels coarser, is generally drier and it tangles easily. At this stage, the baby still has a soft scalp, and no mother wants to cause it pain by combing.

It is best not to relax a child's hair until they enter puberty and yet mothers are driven to relax their hair in their desperation to make hair care easier. Fortunately, there are products and methods that make it easier to care for natural hair and do away with those tears.
