It seemed that Britney Spears’ life was finally getting back on track. She was overjoyed when her conservatorship recently ended after 14 years of her living under her father’s rules.

This was followed a short while later by news of her engagement to boyfriend Sam Asghari and then last month came the announcement that she was pregnant. The pop star, who is already a mom of two, had made it clear that she’d love to have another child so she was over the moon.

So fans were devastated when news broke this week that Britney (40) had suffered a miscarriage.

“It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that we lost our miracle baby early in the pregnancy. This is a devastating time for any parent,” she wrote on Instagram.

Sam also took to Instagram to thank fans for their support during this time. The 28-year-old actor added that despite their sadness they remain positive and are “moving forward with our future”.

But after all the ups and downs Britney has suffered, fans are concerned about the toll the miscarriage will take on her mental health.

Shortly after opening up about her ordeal, the singer posted a meme which read: “I am not in the mood to be with a bunch of people”, which gave an indication of how she’s feeling at the moment.

“Unfortunately my mood these days. I honestly hope it doesn’t turn into years,” she added.

A few days later she admitted that she has not been dealing well with the loss of their “miracle baby”. The Stronger singer posted a picture of herself dancing and wrote how she hoped music would help her to heal.

“I’m definitely going through something in my life at the moment and music helps me so much just to gain insight and perspective. I’m thankful for that escape,” she wrote.

Britney has raised eyebrows in recent weeks by sharing nude pictures of herself on her social-media feed. She’s also been offering fans an insight into how she hated living under her father’s conservatorship.

She said it was so bad she founded herself questioning her faith in God after experiencing “torture” and “embarrassment”.

“God knows I haven’t been perfect but I do know this, the consequences that were taken over me for never committing a crime a day in my life made me question God,” she posted in a story on Instagram, adding that no one should go through what she went through.

Britney, who has two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, with her ex-husband Kevin Federline, says she is now on a mission to write a tell-all book.

“I’ve made a point to capture my experience through a book I am writing. It’s all written on pages that people will hold with their own two hands and hopefully have a better understanding. We all know something we read isn’t the same as your spirit experiencing the circumstances, but I do feel like some people will be touched,” she says.

As despite the heartache they are suffering now as a result of the miscarriage, she and Sam haven't lost hope that they will one day experience the joy of welcoming a child into the world.

“We will have a miracle soon,” Sam says.
