From the outside, they are the living, breathing embodiment of having it all - the designer swag, the flashiest rides, the sexiest vacays and BFFs who are effortlessly cool too.

It’s easy to forget that even A-listers are human too, and they can often feel as insecure and depressed as regular folks.

We take a look at the celebrities who have publicly confronted their demons.

Social media often sells an unrealistic image of body positivity, but the singer challenged the perception of perfection by posting an image that highlighted things about herself that she would not normally be comfortable sharing.

“I had to post this image to be brave for a second, things I don’t like about this image of me is, my baldness, my cellulite, and overall shape of my body, the location of this image not being the huge house and home I thought I would have by now” she wrote.

The rapper shared a secret he’d kept from friends, family and fans for most of his life – his “unusually big” big toe on his left foot.

As a child, he was bullied and teased because of his toe, and in an eight-minute video, he said that had learned to love it.

“I came to a point where I finally accept myself for who I am and how I am with all my imperfections...I see the bigger picture is I am not the only one that is different and I am not the only one who has been teased or picked on..you will be seeing me at the beach now, I am not hiding anymore,” he said.

The actress was diagnosed with vitiligo, a disease that destroys skin pigment cells, when she was 24 years old, and she had masked her condition with make-up, but now she is educating people about the disease.

“I used to cover my white patches with make-up, but for Imbewu I did not cover it. People get to see me without make-up. My plan is to educate people about vitiligo,” she told DRUM magazine.

The superstar DJ joined Mzansi to celebrate Mandela’s release from prison, but was involved in a car crash that left his him without the use of his left hand.

He didn’t like his hand being visible, but in 2017 he spoke out about it.

“When I was young after the car accident I used to wear [a brace on my hand] and being a kid it was hard as kids can be mean so I decided to stop wearing it especially in public. It has taken me so much time to appear like this in public because of my own insecurities but I decided to post this picture not just because for years people had their own versions of my story, I did this for myself,” he wrote, along with a picture of him wearing the brace.
