A stranded bride who was trying to get to her wedding ceremony is grateful to local firefighters who helped her make the grandest entrance possible.

Julie Gorman, from California in the US, was in her wedding gown on her way to say “I do” when the limousine she and her bridesmaids were in got stuck in traffic, PEOPLE reports.

A car accident had blocked both lanes in the street when Los Angeles firefighters on the scene noticed Julie – in her long wedding gown – and her bridesmaid trying to walk through traffic in the rain, holding their dresses up to prevent them from getting dirty, Huffington Post reports.

Curious about the unusual scenario the firefighters approached the women to see if they could assist.

The firefighters offered to give the women a lift as soon as they cleared the accident scene.

Julie was escorted directly to the wedding ceremony, surrounded by the fanfare of flashing lights and sirens.

The young bride was able to tie the knot with her husband, Geof Gorman, at their outdoor wedding in front of friends, family and a few surprise firefighter wedding guests.

A few weeks later, Julie sent a photo to the Los Angeles County Fire Department thanking the men who helped her.

In the photo Julie can be seen in her wedding gown standing next to her four rescuers with a note attached which read: “Thanks for saving our wedding – The Gormans.”
