Thanks to a new steep-pitched roof, the home gained a 25m² mezzanine level which accommodates the main bedroom. “This additional height is probably the biggest ‘wow factor’ in
our home – it’s made a huge difference in terms of space,” says Rebecca.
“The only additional floor space is the dining room which was added, but the whole house feels triple the size.” Exposed pine beams and IsoPine add to the cottage feel the couple wanted for their home. Rebecca loves indoor greenery and added hanging plants to draw the eye upwards.

As university sweethearts, Bruce and Rebecca Meissner would sit on her parents’ roof to stargaze and dream about their future together. They agreed that they wanted to remain close to Table Mountain; they both grew up in Cape Town and imagined raising their kids close to the warm Indian Ocean.
