Luckily, JoJo has a wide range of pump solutions to choose from. Before making your pick, ask yourself these questions:
QUESTION 1:
Where is the JoJo installation on your property, and is noise a factor to consider? If your tanks are close to a bedroom window and the pump is connected to a toilet, you don’t want a noisy pump that will wake you up in the middle of the night if a family member uses the loo! The same applies if your tanks are on the property’s borders – angry WhatsApps from neighbours should not be part of your water storage journey.
JoJo’s Variable Speed Drive pumps provide constant water pressure and boast noise levels below 60dB. To put this into perspective: 60dB is the sound a normal air conditioner makes when it’s running. With a Centrifugal Pump, you will be able to move larger volumes of water, but these pumps typically have noise levels between 60 and 74dB.

What is the pump’s main purpose? If the pump will be pushing water to your dishwasher or washing machine, then the smallest pump will do. But if your JoJo tanks are connected to your showers and toilets, and an irrigation system for your garden, a stronger pump is necessary – again, remember to consider noise levels when you install a bigger pump. If necessary, select a different position for your JoJo installation so noise does not become an issue.

To make the right choice, count the number of bathrooms the booster pump will have to service, and if connected to your irrigation system, count the number of impact sprinklers, pop-ups or misting sprinklers that require a steady push of water.

- A JoJo Pump Cover is essential to protect your pump from the elements; one size fits all JoJo pumps so bear this in mind when planning your installation, especially if you do not want the pump cover to be visible.
- Submersible pumps are an excellent option when noise is a factor to consider. These pumps are installed inside the tank, which means the water serves as a ‘silencer’ – JoJo will be launching a new range within the next few months.
- Get an electrician to install an outdoor plug point where the tank will be positioned.
