A 100-year-old farmer’s cottage with just a kitchen and no separate rooms had fascinated Noeline Marais ever since marrying Piet seven years ago and moving to his family farm.

She wanted to save the house and to justify the cost of the project, guest accommodation seemed like the logical motivation – hunting season in the Northern Cape sees an influx of visitors looking for a comfortable place to stay.
