1. Preheat the oven. Spray two 20cm cake pans well and line with baking paper.

2. Beat together the butter, sugar and vanilla until light and creamy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift the dry ingredients over the batter and fold in until just combined.
