In all areas, this is the last month to sow broad beans although in sheltered gardens that don’t get frost, it is probably safe to sow peas, spinach, lettuce, onions, and radishes.

For those in the Lowveld and subtropical coastal areas you can still sow crops such as beetroot, brinjal, carrot, cucumber, pumpkin and tomato.

Don’t forget about edible flowers that can be planted among veggies, such as evening scented stocks, calendula (in warmer areas) and nasturtiums.
