Potted arum lilies (Zantedeschia sp.) will add colour to indoor spaces for up to six weeks. True to their tropical nature, these mini arums bloom best in a warm, bright room and can take some morning sun. Keep the plant away from heaters or air conditioning. The soil should be kept moist but not soggy, or the rhizomes could rot (yellow leaves are an indication of overwatering). Feed with a liquid fertiliser once a month and remove spent blooms to encourage new flowers.
To induce a new cycle of flowers, stop watering when the plant ceases blooming, let the foliage die down and cut off the leaves at soil level. Water sparingly every few weeks to prevent the bulbs from drying out. Keep the plant in a cool, dry area and after two or three months, return the arum lily to a bright, warm spot.
