The Du Preez family love hanging out at their boma. Grasses and mauve nemesias that were growing here influenced the style of plants chosen; these include watsonia, aloe, red-hot poker and wild garlic. Gazania rigens with its silver-grey foliage was added later to stabilise the soil of the embankment. Stones from the veld were used to create the sloping pathway down to the boma. Blue felicias provide colour next to the pathway; they attract bees, birds and butterflies to the garden.
