I can't stand loud people!

In her weekly newsletter, Women24 editor Lili Radloff shared some of her pet hates and small pleasures. We asked our readers to share some of their likes and dislikes and this is what one of our readers had to say.

Alta:
I suffer from Mysophonia and it is making my life hell.

I can’t stand it when people eat ugly, chew with their mouths open, blow bubbles with their chewing gum or make any other repetitive action or sound.

One of the worst things is these little black plastic motor bikes for toddlers. They always choose the road in front of my chalet when I am on holiday and trying to sleep late to go up and down. Why don’t they put rubber on these wheels!

And why do people have to shout to each other in the office if they sit next to each other?

Am I just impossible to live with?  I should probably consider living in an old age home where it is quiet but I enjoy the little things in life as well.

A baby laughing is the best thing on earth, bubble baths, hot showers or a good looking man walking past and smiling at me. A well-meant compliment, a special little gift (it could be a little chocolate for all I care).

Beautiful shoes, fruit or flowers from my garden.

A clean house after my maid visited, spring when the virgin leaves come out, the smell of coffee, the sound of rain on the roof, chick flicks and a song from my youth playing on the radio or at a function.

Nadine's small pleasures:
My biggest is breaking the foil seal on a bottle of Jacobs coffee. It is possibly my favourite thing ever.

My husband knows not to dare open the new coffee. Ever. He is very sweet about it. He will actually wait until I get home and just go without coffee so that I can open the bottle.

Her pet peeves:
People who think they know your taste (through what? Osmosis?) and then constantly harass you with books and movies that you "just have to" borrow from them so that you can have long conversations about them afterwards. "I just know that you will love xyz".

At this point I  want to say "I have no idea how you could possibly know that I will love it considering you have been 100% wrong in all the other things that you were convinced that I would love...".

It's possibly even worse when they tell you that you won't like something. You know why I sometimes tell people that they will "hate that" from time to time? (ie - almost never) It's because I am purposely being nasty and obnoxious for reasons inspired by the person I am being nasty to.

Gosh I'm getting grumpy just writing about this. I should have written about the peeve first!
