The asymmetrical made its first appearance on the fashion scene in the 1970s when American designer, Roy Halston, released a series of dresses in the style. Taking the concept of elegant cocktail dresses and blending them with Grecian gowns, Halston created this eye-catching design.
After Halston, British fashion designer and businesswoman, Vivienne Westwood created the asymmetrical top in the 80s, and then other designers emerged using the style in other items such as the half-jacket worn by Kourtney Kardashian from French haute couture and prêt-à-porter fashion designer, Jean-Paul Gaultier.

The asymmetrical look is best suitable for when going for a simple, defined look where you want to highlight the parts that correspond to one another in shape, size, or arrangement of your outfit. We already know our favourite actress is in the U.S working and making new strides. Taking to Instagram on Saturday, she posted an image of herself wearing a black and white turtle neck asymmetrical suit with white pointed heels.
Mihlali Ndamase
Adding to the list of South African public figures who are currently in the U.S, Mihlali landed in Atlanta yesterday for the YouTube Black event alongside Laziwe, with spokespeople such as Taraji P Henson.
