Light pink and a splash of green might not be the first colours you think of for a new kitchen, but these playful shades are exactly what the homeowners wanted in order to create a contemporary look. Interior designer Etienne Hanekom made clever use of colour to give this living area a complete makeover.   

“This space was added to the original Victorian house, which dates from the 1890s, some years ago. It wasn’t practical as it felt like a long passageway,” explains Etienne. His aim was to create a sociable, open-plan kitchen, complete with an inviting fireplace and comfortable dining nook.
