Yellow tones are repeated in the throws, which creates cohesion and visual harmony.
The students at our 2023 Décor School created beautiful spaces, perfect for blissful sleep and sweet dreams. Take a look at what they did – and use their clever ideas in your own home!
What we loved about this room...
A green focal wall was the ‘challenge’ in this bedroom, but Hendrik Marais of Cape Town did an excellent job of embracing this trendy colour, instead of working against it.
Hendrik's' design as a cover.
The secret is to create contrast – which is exactly what Hendrik did with a combination of neutral and floral scatters, as well as a single yellow cushion for a touch of whimsy.

TOP TIP: Mr Price Home’s scatters are a staple in the Tuis|Home styling kit: they’re versatile and affordable, and can easily be interchanged between the bedroom and living room. Updating your décor has never been this easy!
Instead of a headboard, a variety of scatters in different sizes serves as a soft support for your back, making this bedroom a cosy escape in winter.

Plants, real or artificial, will immediately bring a space to life.
Picture-perfect! Laetitia Brits of Pretoria opted for a playful look, selecting quirky artworks and a round mirror from Mr Price Home as decoration for a floating shelf and pedestal.
An open shelf above a bed is an excellent solution in a small space – it keeps the floor clear of clutter and you can curate a collection of fun items to add a personal touch.

And don’t forget about greenery! Plants, real or artificial, will immediately bring a space to life.
TOP TIP: These smoked-glass vases are a winner! You can use them anywhere in your home, from the bedroom to your dining table when friends gather for a celebration!
The embroidered bee scatter was a firm favourite in the students’ shopping trolleys and the good news is that new stock with a similar design has just arrived in Mr Price Home’s online store.

Never underestimate the power of a bold, chunky throw to take your bedroom from drab to fab!
This is a space for quiet reflection.
Adele Meredith of Heidelberg in Gauteng used the blank canvas of this predominantly white bedroom to set the mood for a pared-down but inviting sanctuary.

Dry branches with a single yellow leaf displayed in a blue smoked-glass vase add a subtle yet striking touch, while the layered artworks on the ledge behind the bed create movement and depth.

BEST BUY!
The Kotini Bench, available in different sizes and colours, is a must-have from the Mr Price Home furniture range. The raw wood bench with beautiful riempie detail (used here at the foot of the bed by Claudia Bucking of Windhoek, Namibia) complements the green colour scheme beautifully, and matches the woven rugs perfectly.
BANG ON TREND!
Whether bright pink or a more subtle dusty-pink, this versatile colour remains very popular. And it’s not limited to the bedroom – it works wonders in a kitchen, too. Juanita Jeffery of Worcester matched the homeowner’s rattan headboard with a rustic wicker tray and woven foot stool – a lovely finishing touch.
THINK OUT OF THE BOX!
Thanks to Mr Price Home’s vast selection of décor accessories, this bedroom has taken on its own distinct style. There are a number of highlights, but using the white screen as a headboard deserves a round of applause. Well done, Liezl Viviers of Bellville!
CREATE GROUPINGS!
Marselle Groenewald of Durbanville softened the green wall with a trio of artworks above the pedestal – the bottom one is neatly tucked behind a Mexican fan palm to create a subtle layered effect. A combination of colours and patterns in the luxe layered textiles and scatters on the bed sets an autumnal tone, with trendy terracotta the star of the show.
