Even the tiniest apartment can be jazzed up with Tjhoko Paint – take a look at this guest suite.
FRIDGE
Painted in Tjhoko Paint Matt Black with a 110mm sponge roller, then sealed with Tjhoko Paint’s Clear Glaze. You don’t need to sand the fridge beforehand, but clean the surface well with lacquer thinners and give it at least 20–40 minutes to dry.
KITCHEN CABINETS
These melamine cupboards were painted in Tjhoko Paint Maestro with a 110mm sponge roller. You can also use a 225mm mohair roller if it is a large flat surface. A Tjhoko Paint Clear Glaze protective layer was applied afterwards with a damp microfibre cloth to make the surface more stainproof and water-resistant.
FOCAL WALL
This striking pattern demarcates the living area and kitchen. It was created with a Tjhoko Paint stencil (pattern 2020-90x60-3) and Tjhoko Paint Stencil of Paris. The latter was tinted with Tjhoko Paint Matt Black and Tjhoko Paint Don’s Wash. After positioning the stencil with masking tape, the tinted Stencil of Paris was evenly applied over the stencil with a 5cm paint scraper.
Tip Remove the stencil immediately after the paste has been applied. Clean the stencil in waterand repeat the pattern until you’re satisfied.
SPLASHBACK
Tjhoko Paint’s vinyl stickers were applied to the splashback in the kitchen to create the illusion of tiles.
Tip We cut two 5mm MDF boards to size and secured them above the kitchen cabinets. The boards were painted in Tjhoko Paint Da’vid, then sealed four hours later with two coats of undiluted Tjhoko Paint Clear Glaze. The stickers were applied 48 hours later. Always work on an even surface and cut stickers with a carpet knife or scissors if need be.
METAL CUPBOARD
Spray-painted with slightly diluted Tjhoko Paint Matt Black in a 1:9 ratio (1 part water to 9 parts paint), using a 500W spray gun.
STOOLS
The patterns were applied with masking tape and the following Tjhoko colours: Lebo’s Light (cream), Cement Grey (light grey), Sherif’s Stone (dark grey), Goodness (light green) and Maestro (dark green).
FOCAL WALL
Roughly plastered with Tjhoko Paint Stencil of Paris tinted with Tjhoko Paint Vinia Stone, Maestro and Olivia’s Pale.
SCATTERS
Tjhoko Paint can also be used on natural fabrics. Two stencils were used for the cushions: pattern 2021-45-6 and pattern 2021-45-9. Allow the paint to dry for at least 40 minutes, iron the fabric on the reverse side and wash, when necessary, in cold water,preferably by hand.
