You will need
* pine plank (approximately 450 x 450 x 16mm)
* tape measure
* pencil
* hammer
* panel pin
* 1m cotton twine
* jigsaw with wood blade
* sandpaper (80-grit and 100-grit)
* stencil of your choice
* laser-cut numbers (from 1 to 25) and wooden embellishments (optional)
* 3 x paintbrushes
* 3 x stirring spatulas
* 3 x mixing containers
* 1L Woodoc Water-Borne FLOOR Matt Clear
* 20ml Woodoc Colours Full Moon
* 20ml Woodoc Colours Clifton Grey
* 20ml Woodoc Colours Oak
* cordless drill
* 8mm high speed bit
* clock mechanism
* wood glue
1. To mark the circle, determine the required radius. Make sure there is sufficient space for the length of the clock arm and the surrounding numbers.
2. Determine the centre point on the square plank. Nail the panel pin in the centre. Tie the twine around the pin and the pencil (the twine must be the length of the radius). Pull the twine tight and draw a circle with the pencil.
3. Cut the circle out with the jigsaw.
4. Sand the edges smooth.
5. Pour half a cup (120ml) of Woodoc Water-Borne FLOOR Matt Clear into a mixing container and add a few drops of Woodoc Colours Oak. Stir well. Paint the circle with this mixture.
6. Pour half a cup (120ml) of Woodoc Water-Borne FLOOR Matt Clear into each of the two remaining mixing containers. Shake the Woodoc Colours well before adding a few drops of the Full Moon and Clifton Grey to the sealer in each container and stir well.
7. Position the stencil in the middle of the circle and paint with Woodoc Colours Full Moon.
8. Paint the numbers with Woodoc Colours Full Moon. You can paint the stars with Woodoc Colours Full Moon and Wooodoc Colours Clifton Grey for variety.
9. Drill a hole for the clock mechanism in the centre and secure with wood glue.
10. Using the wood glue, attach the numbers and stars to the front of the circle.
11. Move the long arm on the clock mechanism to point at the next number each day to track the countdown; there’s no need for a battery.
