PROJECT NOTE

We used salvaged metal table legs to make our ice bucket stand, but you could also repurpose an old side table.

You will need

  • timber cut to the size of a tabletop (or an existing tabletop)
  • masking tape
  • ice bucket
  • compass
  • drill with 8mm wood drill bit
  • jigsaw
  • Woodoc Water-Borne FLOOR Matt Clear
  • Woodoc Colours Brights (Red)
  • mixing container
  • stirring spatula
  • paintbrushes
  • sandpaper
  • table legs
  • screws

1. From the centre of the tabletop, apply masking tape in lines going out to the edge. Use the masking tape’s width as a spacer to position the lines equally.

2. Use the compass to mark a circle for the position of the ice bucket in the centre of the tabletop. We made our cutting circle just a tiny bit smaller than the top of the ice bucket, so that it would fit snugly under the handles.

3. Use the drill to drill a pilot hole for the jigsaw blade on the inside of the circle you drew in step 2.

4. Cut the circle out with the jigsaw.

5. Decant about 75ml of Woodoc Water-Borne FLOOR Matt Clear into the mixing container. Add the Woodoc Colours Brights (Red) and stir well.

6. Apply this mixture to the triangles that you created with the masking tape in step 1.

7. Once this has dried, remove the masking tape.

8. Seal the tabletop on all sides with three coats of Woodoc Water-Borne FLOOR Clear Matt. Sand lightly after the first and second coats have dried. Do not sand after the third coat has dried.

9. Screw the legs in place.

10. Insert the ice bucket filled with ice and your favourite beverages and you’re ready to party!
