You will need
- mould (we used a paper popcorn cup)
- 25cm thick rope
- craft knife
- Prestik
- cement
- sand
- water
- mixing bucket
- gloves
- craft knife
- Woodoc Tile and Cement Sealer
- Woodoc Colours in Brights (Yellow) and Full Moon
- mixing containers big enough for the doorstops
- felt squares
- scissors
- spray adhesive
How to
1 Fold the rope in half and mark where it will go through the cup to make a handle for the doorstop. Cut out a hole with a craft knife. Push the rope through the hole and seal the gap around the rope with Prestik. Position the cup right side up on two planks so that there is space for the rope at the bottom.
2 Mix the cement: 1 part cement to 3 parts sand. Mix with just enough water to bind it; it should have the consistency of cookie dough. Fill your mould about ? with the cement mixture. Shake it a bit to get rid of air bubbles. Let it stand for 24 to 48 hours to harden.
3 Remove the mould.
4 When the cement has dried out completely, decant about 300ml of Woodoc Tile and Cement Sealer into a mixing container. Add Woodoc Colours to the sealer and stir well (we used Brights (Yellow) in one container and Full Moon in another).
5 Dip the doorstop into the mixture and let it hang so that the extra sealer can drip off. Let it dry and repeat twice more until the colour is solid.
6 When the final coat has dried completely, trace the base of the doorstop onto felt. Cut it out and stick it to the base of the doorstop with spray adhesive.
